September 29, 2021, Gävle — Future Position X recently received a $48,000.00 award from the Microsoft Datacenter Community Empowerment Fund to support Hack For Gävle. The award will be used for a hackathon, arranged by FPX in collaboration with Microsoft, Gävle Municipality and University of Gävle, to practically solve a real challenge to contribute to climate neutrality.
The purpose is to develop strategic partnerships with the public sector, the university and companies to drive innovation on the sites Tolvfors and Näringen in Gävle municipality. The event builds relationships, exchanges of experiences and knowledge and create collaborations between the participants. Participants are students, entrepreneurs and innovators who will propose innovative solutions that address sustainability and develops solutions that contributes to knowledge around issues such as upcycling of buildings, future mobility and civic engagement.

The Microsoft Community Empowerment Fund, created and managed by Microsoft’s Datacenter Community Development team, is designed to support community-led and prioritized projects, increase collaboration among contributors and award recipients, and develop ecosystems that help deliver common community priorities. Through this approach, Microsoft hopes to achieve long-term, systemic, and holistic outcomes in the communities in which it operates.

Future Position X is a Non-profit Network Organization founded in 2006 when regional actors gathered in an initiative, with the mission to take the position of a leading Geospatial Information Cluster.
