Model Gävle in 3D

Future Position X, together with a number of partners have chosen to support a local initiative of the Google Model Your Town Competition. This means that we encourage interested pupils, students and the public to register for and participate in Google's international competition and we will select the local winners by a jury appointed to pick the best entries in the City of Gävle.

Now is your opportunity to win advanced technology! To encourage participation, the contest prizes will be awarded to the three best entries and it will be great prizes in relation to the theme of the contest, including a laptop computer.

Instructions: The contest is to create 3D models of buildings in Gävle. The contest is not limited to residents of Gävle, but all contributions are welcome wherever they come from, but the object you wish to enter to the local competition must be a building in Gävle.

Rules: Competition rules applicable are the official rules that Google has set for the international competition and the local part is that the jury only will consider the submissions to the international competition and passed Google's quality acceptance for publication in the 3D building layer in Google Earth and that they are geographically placed in Gävle.

More detailed information is available in the Google FAQ.

Within the red marked area, it is possible to order the construction volumes from The Municipality of Gävle. This is done by sending an email to Fredrik Ekberg and enter the address for the house you intend to model.

Construction volumes are "blocks" based on real data collected by The Municipality of Gävle. These models makes the modeling process easier when you get the correct volume to work with.

Dates: The dates for the international competition also applies to our local competition, ie 1 December 2009 to 1 March, 2010. This means that we will evaluate the models from March 1, and then designate Gävle's winning contribution on 15th May 2010.
